Testimonials
The main thing I have learned here through these months is that there is so much more to life than drugs.
Fundraising
Along side our fundraising efforts for general running costs and capital items, there are several projects and activities which have proved successful yet require funding to continue. These include the Art Therapy classes for Kickstart clients.
We do hope that you can support our work.
Welcome to Kickstart Community Programmes Ltd
Dear Supporters,
Kickstart was born out of needs expressed by the community in 1995. Inability to access funding and long waiting times for service treatment literally meant that people were dying on our streets. In offering a space for addicts to access, quite simply a drop facility, we have evolved into Sheffield's only Day Care service, leading excellence in all that we deliver and continually scoring 100% in every area at our annual appraisal meetings.
My initial dream was to enable hope and change, to encourage people that there was a life outside of drugs. Through hard work and unreasonable determination, we managed to fundraise £300,000pa over a seven year period in sustaining the belief that "people matter".
People do matter, people are more than their behaviour. In building a service to meet the needs of substance misuse we have supported and enabled change in over 12,000 service users, supporting their relationships and families along the way.
Our battle of recognition came to fruition in 2002 when our work was acknowledged by the city and we began to receive statutory funding.
But this was just the beginning. As we grew and evolved in leading the way in Day Care provision, spear heading new initiatives, projects, and ventures, we quickly understood the need for additional therapies such as therapeutic interventions, art therapy*, structured recreation and team building activities, and enhanced family support including rebuilding family relationships. Our rehabilitation programme today now integrates these services but we need £50,000 per year to sustain their existence on the programme.
The future looks to be as productive and as busy as ever. We are involved with fundraising events like the Great Yorkshire Run** to help raise additional funds and encourage everyone to take part in this or any other fundraising event to support our need.
A big thank you has to be said to the staff team and volunteers for all their hard work in Kickstart's success, without their commitment and hard team work, we wouldn’t be here now.
I hope that you find our service as inspirational as it is to direct it.
